About Us
Previous Projects
Plymouth Culture has delivered a number of projects across the city and further afield.
Find out more about what we’ve been working on.
Creative Leadership Programme
The Creative Leadership programme was delivered by Plymouth Culture in 2024 to explore and build a new model of distributed leadership, challenging dominant models of hierarchical leadership in ways that support the development of Plymouth’s cultural ecology.
Cultural Investment Fund
The Cultural Investment Fund was designed to seed fund cultural initiatives through an open call, grant-making process. It was a collaborative effort that saw the National Portfolio Organisations (NPOs) in the city pool budgets and jointly commission activity that aligned with the strategic objectives set out in the Culture Plan.
North Cross Subways Murals
Plymouth City Council and Plymouth Culture collaborated to bring new murals to North Cross Roundabout’s walls, a pivotal system of under passes that link pedestrians with the railway station, University of Plymouth, Central Park, the City Centre, the Hoe, and surrounding residential districts.
Alternative Business Models
In 2021 we partnered with Plymouth City Council as a delivery partner on the Interreg funded C-Care programme that focused on supporting communities and businesses to adapt to the post-Covid world. Here we explore alternatives to create sustainable business models with real impact.
Meanwhile Use
The Meanwhile Use project was initiated to support imaginative projects to occupy vacant spaces in the city centre. It allowed such projects to have a home, rent free, and provided an amazing opportunity for pop-up, experimentation and testing of ideas.
Plymouth High Streets Heritage Action Zone (HSHAZ) Cultural Programme
We led the Plymouth High Streets Heritage Action Zone (HSHAZ) Cultural Programme funded by Historic England that helped to reimagine the city centre and celebrated our heritage through community-led cultural activities.
Light Installations
We collaborated with artists and technicians to install a series of light-based installations into, on and around the Civic Centre, that revitalised and activated this iconic and significant building within the Conservation Area.
Horizon - Best Practices for multi-partners projects
Horizon was collaborative programme of visual contemporary arts in Plymouth, that run from 2016 to 2018 and resulted in four major arts events in the city, a talent development programme for artists and visual arts producers, and visual artworks commissioned by communities.
Mayflower 400 UK
Mayflower 400 UK marked the 400th anniversary year of the ship’s sailing from England to America and its often challenging legacy. We believe it is important to explore all of these stories and histories, and therefore Plymouth Culture supported arts organisations and projects to achieve this.
