Seven Vegan Delights in Plymouth
Here’s a frustrating thing. Veganuary comes around every year, and while it runs we are treated to exciting new ethical eating options across the city. But when February arrives, a lot of places tone down their vegan offer (or remove it completely!) leaving plant-based Plymouth folk wondering where to get the best lunches, dinners and takeaways, year-round.
So! We’ve compiled a rundown of the best vegan eating options we know. Have we missed any you’d like us to shout about? Let us know and we’ll add them in!
Palace St PL1 2AY | Lunchtime to evening | Restaurant and Bar
Run by sisters Gabriela and Lucia Evangelou, this stylish vegan restaurant serves delicious meals, lighter bites and alcoholic drinks in beautiful surroundings. Keep an eye on their social media for events and gigs.
Devonport Guildhall, PL1 4EL | Takeaway, Event Catering
Our favourite vegan pop-up has found a permanent home at the Guildhall, but you can still catch their van around the city at various venues and events.
Power Plant Cafe
9 Cornwall St PL1 1NS | Morning to afternoon | Cafe
A wonderful spot to take a rest from town and grab an imaginatively filled sandwich, hot lunch or irresistible cookie to go with a range of nourishing hot drinks. The staff are super friendly and there are artworks and reading materials to take in with a leisurely coffee.
140 Vauxhall St PL4 0DF | Morning to evening | Restaurant and Bar
Previously the Gin Sanctuary, this little haven tucked away behind the Barbican has now become a home for vegan brunches, lunches and dinners, and boasts a fully plant-based cocktail bar.
Shop 1, Market, 5 Cornwall St PL1 1PS | Morning to afternoon | Cafe and Takeaway
The pannier market is one of the best places in the city to try out new food, and its vegan offering is no exception. Stroll down to grab a delicious plant-based lunch in your break, or have it delivered from Just Eat.
There are also honourable mentions a-plenty, including vegetarian stalwarts Veggie Perrins. Though not a vegan restaurant itself, one of the most notoriously vegan-friendly restaurants in the city is Imperial Garden, whose buffet includes a huge range of well-labelled vegan options.
