Down Stage Write presents...
COAST TO COAST is a project inspiring writers in Devon and Cornwall to respond to the climate emergency through performance. As the world moves towards the COP 27 Climate Change Conference in Egypt, theatre company Down Stage Write will be inviting professional and community writers to respond by taking part in workshops, sharings and performances in October and November.
Free writing workshops exploring Climate Change will take place in Plymouth and Torquay on 22nd and 29th of October and 2nd November. Aimed at anyone from first timers to professional writers these are a chance to tackle the idea of the climate emergency through writing and discussion. Short one page plays inspired by these workshops will be showcased gallery style in the venues for people to come and read.
On the 11th of November there will be a chance to hear work in progress full length plays on the theme read by actors at the Community Climate Centre in Plymouth featuring work from Shane Scott, James Pickthall and others.
Four writers from Devon have been commissioned to write their own short plays which will be performed on the 18th and 19th of November at the Community Climate Centre in Plymouth and Artizan Gallery in Torquay.
The writers are Hattie Collins, Natasha Lay, Hugh Malyon and Tom Stockley, each taking a different look at the issues to create an evening of reflection, anger, heartache and joy.
People can attend the workshops, view the gallery of short plays and attend the sharing's and performances.
